St Alban's Church is a quaint Anglican Church in Copenhagen. To the people of Copenhagen it's referred to as "The English Church".

We caught sight of it when walking into the city from the famous Little Mermaid statue on our morning walk then had a closer look as we passed by. Returning later in the day, it was surrounded by tourists who had arrived on tour buses.

We were grateful to have been able to enjoy it without the crowds.

Our recommendation: The best time of the day to explore any town is in the early morning.

A town frozen in time.

We diverted to visit the ruins of Oradour-sur-Glane on a driving trip through France.

On 10 June 1944, four days after D-Day, German soldiers arrived in the small French town of Oradour-sur-Glane, rounded up and massacred 642 residents before setting fire to the town. Only 7 people survived to tell the story.

The town ruins are left standing today to commemorate those who lost their lives and as a national memorial to the atrocities the French endured under Nazi occupation.

Visitors can walk around the town's streets and spend time in the small remembrance centre on-site.
