Market Day in the north-western French town of Arras.

We made a beeline to Place des Heros to check out the beautiful Flemish Baroque style buildings that line the square and its beautiful cathedral. Most of the buildings were obscured by the market day activity, which gave us an opportunity to instead observe a traditional French marketplace

Arras does boast two squares. So after enjoying the atmosphere in Place des Heros, we walked to the Grand Place next door. The huge square was empty and resplendently surrounded by charming Flemish architecture.

Built in memory of Cecil Rhodes, an alumni and benefactor to the University, and completed in 1929, the building is the centre of activity for all Rhodes scholars who attend the University.

It's just one of the many famous buildings scattered across the campus in Oxford.

Just one of many reasons to make the short trip to the city if you're visiting London.

Portugal has become a major tourist destination in recent years, and the number of people visiting Lisbon has sky-rocketed.

Parque Eduardo VII is a few minutes' walk from the city centre and a great place to go to if you want to escape the crowds, especially in the summer. Stroll the tree-lined paths to the top of the park and enjoy the fantastic views and the memorial to the earthquake in 1755, which destroyed much of the city.

The cast iron sculpture named Sanna in Place de la Comedie, Bordeaux.

This sculpture was one of 11 sculptures by Catalan artist Jaumes Plensa, displayed across the city during an exhibition in 2013.

Due to its popularity, this one has remained in the city. The huge sculpture looks like a full-bodied head from afar. A closer look reveals a sharp angular structure that seems to contrast while also snugly fitting into its space surrounded by classical buildings like the National Opera House.

One of the things we love to do on our travels is visit the local railway station.

Because we usually travel by car, we make a point of peeking into the railway station in whichever city or town we stay in during our morning walks.

Often, they're grand buildings, indide and outside. Enough to serve as public museums in their own right.

This photo is of Limoges central station. You'll have to visit to see the beautiful dome and glass windows inside.
