A town frozen in time. We diverted to visit the

A town frozen in time.

We diverted to visit the ruins of Oradour-sur-Glane on a driving trip through France.

On 10 June 1944, four days after D-Day, German soldiers arrived in the small French town of Oradour-sur-Glane, rounded up and massacred 642 residents before setting fire to the town. Only 7 people survived to tell the story.

The town ruins are left standing today to commemorate those who lost their lives and as a national memorial to the atrocities the French endured under Nazi occupation.

Visitors can walk around the town's streets and spend time in the small remembrance centre on-site.

The city is only 10km from the Mediterranean and you'll find much to see and do in this vibrant city that's mostly overlooked by tourists.
